Yeah this are nice thoughts, and I agree with you.
While you mentioned the Proto Lasers, I understand the way CCP goes to concentrate on the heat build-up on lasers. But why does my PROTO-LR exactly the same dmg as the standard version? I understand that I can shoot for a longer time with the laser and work better with the heat up, but this can't be the only advantage I get for over 1 mil SP. At least change the dmg on the viziam to a base dmg of minimum (!) 16.
Right now the viziam is THE Kill-Assist weapon. And I know that fighting in Uprising is not about a big KDR, and it's much more about helping your team winning. That's totally okay. But if I get 39 Assists and barely 5 kills on a regular Ambush match while using a PROTO weapon, something is up.
Nearly all of this Assists were the same: the enemy is down on 20% armour while my LR keeps exploding and nearly kills me.
I am not qqing about stuff. But we as a community try to make this game more balanced and this are my 2 cents to this.
I am speccing into AR's right now, because I really fear the upcoming Planetary Conquest and that I will not be able to help my team with the laser.
We should extend our focus away from one clas (right now the AR) and try to make other weapons more useful, so we have a nice variety of playstyles and different people hanging around, because this is what makes a universe come to life. CCP should have learned this from EVE ;) |

You might be right about the base damage, and don't get me wrong, I don't want the LR OP again, I used it also in Chromosome and it was to strong.
I think another problem with this might be the dmg build up as it goes along with the heat. I have the feeling that the dmg build up is very slow, maybe if they would not increase the base dmg but the build up dmg on the higher tier variants.
The problem right now is if you want to kill people with the LR, even the Viziam, you have to take atleast 1 mid damage mod. This just feels wrong, I'm not putting over 1 mil SP into a Proto weapon, just to be forced to waste one high slot to finally being able to kill somebody. Just make this exact same mechanics with the ARs and you will see this forums flooded in tears.
This is not about the speed of killing somebody,the problem is just if I shoot straight on somebody, and he stands still, my laser will faster overheat than kill somebody, even with increased dmg skill and reduced heat skills. And this is a problem.
Damage mods should make you kill people faster, they should NOT be a neccesarry update to make a weapon useful. |
